The Kitchen Depot is a socially responsible company and we are committed to an on-going process of tackling the environmental challenges that face our business and our planet.
We accept that our material supply chain also shares this responsibility and all of our suppliers are monitored as to their commitment to minimising any adverse effect on the environment, upholding their employees rights and the continual improvement of a safe and healthy working environment. All waste materials , including wood residues with high calorific value, created through aspects of both internal and external production processing, is recycled or reduced wherever possible, with much of this waste reused as low-emission furnace fuel to heat our factory and showrooms.
Management at all levels is committed to ensure that environmental issues are considered when appointing suppliers or planning developments. We actively encourage all staff to act in accordance with our environmental policy and reduce, reuse and recycle considerations are part of The Kithcen Depot’s “way of working”. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by 40% by the year 2012.
The Kitchen Depot is committed to sourcing quality products and raw materials such as timber for manufacture from renewable and sustainable sources, in particular from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) accredited suppliers as often as is possible. We also believe that our workers and those of our suppliers are treated fairly and with respect, regardless of their gender, religion or ethnic origin. This respect and consideration extends into the area of our employees’ health and safety requirements which are expected to be met and complied-with without compromise. As necessary, random inspections are initiated to ensure enduring compliance with our values.
The Kitchen Depot is totally committed to our environmental policy because we believe that it is the responsibility of all businesses to protect the natural resources of our planet – and a good environmental policy is not just good for the planet – it’s good for business too.
