As we are celebrating the 20th Anniversary of The Kitchen Depot, we thought we would take a trip down memory lane and revisit our journey from 2003 to 2023.
2003
Founded by the McCay family, husband and wife Jim and Grace McCay opened their first showroom doors in Telford in 2003. From the very beginning family kitchens were at the forefront of the vision, and still to this day we’re creating beautiful kitchens that the whole family can enjoy.
2004
The growth begins with our showroom in Shrewsbury, Shropshire opening in it’s first location. Today The Kitchen Depot Shrewsbury is located in the heart of the town centre, servicing the kitchen renovation needs of all that cross the threshold.
2005
Close family ties bring the McCays home as our first showroom in Hillington, Glasgow opens. The Kitchen Depot Glasgow would cement itself as our flagship showroom in the years that followed as well as our Headquarters.
2009
We took control of our own quality and supply chain with the opening of our first factory in Glasgow. This was an important step in the history of The Kitchen Depot.
2011
Our second factory in Telford opened 2011 to support our showrooms in England.
2014
Another key moment in the history of The Kitchen Depot took place in 2014. We expanded our showroom portfolio by opening our first franchise showroom in East Kilbride.
2016
Our franchise revolution gathers momentum with the opening of showrooms in Dumbarton, West of Glasgow, and Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
2017
The following year we expanded into the East of Central Scotland with the opening of The Kitchen Depot Falkirk. We also increased our presence in the West Midlands area of England with the launch of The Kitchen Depot Wolverhampton.
2018
We opened our million pound manufacturing plant and new showroom in Hillington, Glasgow. Our franchise network continued to grow as The Kitchen Depot Oxford opened it’s doors for the first time along with The Kitchen Depot Bishopbriggs in the north of Glasgow.
2019
The Kitchen Depots reach expanded further in 2019 with addition of multiple new showrooms. Our second showroom, The Kitchen Depot St Albans, in the Hertfordshire area opened along with Scottish stores in Ayr and Greenock.
2021
Following the pandemic, we resumed our rapid expansion with another three new showrooms. The Kitchen Depot Cheltenham, Letchworth, and Cambuslang were launched over the Spring and Summer 2021. This year also marked the launch of our LINEA kitchen and home furniture collection.
2022
The back-to-back openings of The Kitchen Depot Edinburgh and Stirling grew our presence in East of Scotland.
2023
Thanks to the addition of showrooms in Rosyth and Sutton Coldfield, The Kitchen Depot proudly now has 20 locations across the UK as we celebrate two decades of unmistakeable quality with our first ever sale.
