Ingredients

Before you get started, ensure your kitchen is stocked with the following ingredients.

  • ‭‬200g unsalted butter
  • ‭200g caster sugar
  • ‭‬4‭ ‬medium eggs
  • ‭200g self raising flour
  • ‭‬1‭ ‬tsp vanilla flavouring
  • ‭1‭ ‬tsp orange food colouring
  • ‭200g unsalted butter
  • ‭‬400g icing sugar
  • ‭1‭ ‬tsp vanilla flavouring
  • ‭1‭ ‬tsp orange food colouring
  • ‭‬1/4‭ ‬tsp green food colouring

Halloween Pumpkin Cupcakes

Method

Now it’s time to bake! Follow these easy steps to create your very own pumpkin cupcakes this Halloween.

  1. Heat your oven to 180/160ºc fan and prep 12‭ ‬cupcake cases‭.‬
  2. In a large bowl‭, ‬beat the butter with the caster sugar until light and fluffy‭.‬
  3. Add the eggs and flour and mix again until smooth‭.‬
  4. ‬Add the vanilla flavouring‭, ‬and the orange food colouring to the mixture and beat‭.‬
  5. Spoon the mix into the cupcake cases evenly and bake in the oven for 20-22‭ ‬minutes before leaving them to cool fully on a wire rack‭. ‬
  1. Beat the butter in a large bowl for a couple of minutes to loosen‭ ‬it‭ ‬–‭ ‬gradually mix‭ ‬in the icing sugar until well combined‭.‬
  2. Remove a tablespoon of buttercream‭, ‬place in a small bowl‭, ‬and add the green‭ ‬food colouring‭.‬
  3. ‬Colour the rest of the buttercream orange‭.‬
  1. ‬Pipe the orange buttercream onto the cupcakes‭, ‬and then pipe small thin‭ ‬amounts of green buttercream for a tendril‭.‬
